Automated installation on Linux

Raul Zanardo from Brazil wrote a shell script to install Pinguino on Linux.
This script was used on Ubuntu 9.10. It download Pinguino on the website, create a folder, copy rules files and create a Microchip group.
So you can use pinguino as is with good rules for the USB device.

Congratulations Raul.

Installation script.

Hi everybody.
I run the script and it installs everything, but then I don't find anything, neither the grup or user micrhochip. Where have I to look for?

You run it as root?

Celuti said...

Yes I do. I put "python pinguinobeta7.py" as su and I compile the .pde file. Then when I want to send it to the PIC I find this:

(python:1849): GVFS-RemoteVolumeMonitor-WARNING **: cannot connect to the session bus: org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken.

I did it.
The problem was because of a jumper. (Things of new-user)

Thank you raul by the script.

Hi there, I've run in a similar trouble (tried the forum but I can't register.... no code image displayed) :-/
Anyone an idea why it says (under OpenSuse Linux) after compiling code and click to upload : 'Impossible to change the device configuration' ?

LSusb shows : Bus 001 Device 007: ID 04d8:feaa Microchip Technology, Inc.. Added the rules, added the 'microchip' group and me as user of that group, but still getting this message, I'm a bit lost :-( . if anyone has an idea, as there is no other 'debug' message. Thanks
