PIC32-PINGUINO is here !!

Hi guys,

I just received the new Pinguino 32 bits board !! This board will be the main support board for Pinguino32X development.... Designed and Built by OLIMEX for the Pinguino community. It have a lot of interesting possibilities:
- PIC 32MX440F256H at 80 Mhz,
- RTC already on board ( crystal + capacitor ),
- LIPO charger,
- wide power supply ( 9-30 VDC ),
- noise free,
- UEXT connector,
- shield compatible......
And a lot of other great features..

We are working hard to publish the next release of Pinguino IDE soon.
The Changelog is now a book !!
A team is working on 8 bits improvements, another on 32 bits boards and GCC. The powerful of this 32 bits system should be soon available as easy as development is for 8 bits systems.
Thanks again to all the contributors, developers, users.

Hi Jean-Pierre,

First of all, you are doing a good job with Pinguino.

In respect to pic32-Pinguino, do you really use pic32mx440F256L? I've been searching this model on microchip webpage and can't find it. The nearest one is pic32mx440F256H or pic32mx440F128L.

And do you plan to support other pic32 models?

Hi,

Thanks for this remark, and sorry for the mistake !! this board is based on the 32MX440F256H, you are right.
Of course, the new version of the IDE already support 32MX440F256H but also 32MX460F512L. And we should also add support soon for the 32MX795F512L.
EDTP electronics already sell a breadboard board with those chips. Pinguino32X will be available with support for EDTP board ( EMPEROR460 ).

Salut Jean-Pierre,

I have just started with arduinos and like the fact that you have used a 32bit processor and have extra sram. The limitation for me with the arduino is the 10bit ADC. Can you tell me how many bits is your analog input?

merci beaucoup!

@ctalbot

Analog converter on Pinguino is 10 bits as it is on Arduino ( I'm not sure about this ).
Maybe a solution for you is to wire an external ADC.

The picture of Pinguino32 is wrong because of the shadows. The shadows are too strong and distorts the image. You can't make a fair idea about it, so it must be changed.

The same thing applies to the image from http://pinguino.cc where it is elongated and you can't have a fair "picture" about it's sizes.

Make the required shots to show the beauty of the board.

I have received this board but unfortunately have no clue yet how to program it.
It seems different from boards like chipKit UNO32 and MAX32 (which run sucsesfully here)
Hope to find some more info on this soon.

I lost the bootloader of PIC32 Pinguino.
The utility mphidflash overwrite it.
Can you give me it?

Thank you
