It would be nice if the layout/schematic were available as geda/gschem/pcb or eagle project files or the layout were in a form that would print out to scale such as pdf.
The 4550 card is ready !! Just let me some days to integrate the 15 supplementary I/O in the libraries. It will be available at the end of february with the beta 5 release.
Yes this project is open hardware, open software and supported by microchip. You can find pcb, implantation and schematics by clicking on the label 'Build Pinguino'.
I done your card and upload the bootloader hex file to 18f2550. My laptop saw it but how can upload any hex file to 18f2550. I mean that which program can I use?
The project is stopped? I ask this because an initiative such as this should be more flexible and can be compared with Arduino. And soon proved pinguino. I hope that this project will soon move faster.
Question_1 /// How can I load the bootloader.hex file into the PIC18f2550? Can I do it via USB, using the same pingüino board and the same pinguino IDE and the same usb cable? …or Do I need an special hardware/cable? Do I need an special soft? Any help will be more than welcomed!!! Thanks!
Question_2 /// How can I install mchpusb win driver if win doesn’t ask me to do it? When I plug pinguino board to my notebook via usb, new device is NOT recognized! Any suggestion?
Question_3 /// I am trying to solve the “pic not found” issue. I had re-install libusb-win32-filter-bin-0.1.12.1.exe and nothing changed! Libusb only recognizes my usb mouse. ¿Any suggestions? …comments will be highly appreciated…
"Can I do it via USB, using the same pingüino board and the same pinguino IDE and the same usb cable?"
No, you can't! Uploading via USB works only if you already have the firmware inside the pic. So, you need a pic programmer to burn the firmware. After that, you can use USB for uploading your software.
The board can be made also without those 470R resistors... so, no SMD anymore.
boolean onoff; I have a “syntax error” when typing: boolean onoff; I do not know how to declare a true false variable in my pinguino project. I am writing this sentences before de loop() and before de setup().
Is there any plugin for MPLAB/C18? Would be very nice to be able to select “Pinguino Board” from the MPLAB/C18 menu: Programmer > Select Programmer > Pinguino.
Hi Jean-Pierre, Looking the photos with the original Pinguino (18F2550), I didn't see the 22pF capacitors. Do you solder them under the PCB? Same for the Tiny model?
On the original Pinguino, I noticed from the photos that the "PCB foil" and "implantation" are the same. So, I believe that "PCB foil" should be deleted and put a mirror image of it.
PCB foil is meant to be imprinted as is on a paper for PCB toner transfer method. Yes, is from the component view. If you use photo method, then you know what to do.
First of all please excuse the bad translation, the Internet is a very large source of information but it has the disadvantage that the photos do not last as the information, all the pictures of schemes there is no way to download them
I am an electronic engineer. I teach programming, interactivity end networks solutions at the Aix en provence School of Art. I work too as a freelance engineer mostly in industrial robotic. I work on Microchip microcontroller since 1997.

Hi,
Layout and schematics will be soon available in Kicad format.
For the PCB you can scale the JPEG file with width and height indicated on the layout implantation.
Jean-Pierre
It would be nice to have the same with a PIC18F4550 which is basically the same chip with more I/O pin.

Thanks for this remark.

Hello!
It seems a very nice project.
Is it open hardware? If so, where can I find the list of parts to build it by myself?
Thanks and "bon courage"
I'll try to follow you!
Hi and thanks for comments,
Yes this project is open hardware, open software and supported by microchip.
You can find pcb, implantation and schematics by clicking on the label 'Build Pinguino'.
I'm going to visit your blog now.....
See you

When will the schedule for the PIC18F4550?. Be in Eagle?

Hi Jean-Pierre
I am from Argentina.
Very good project!...Go on!

Carlos
Hi Jean, Greetings from Brazil.
Congratulations, I´m pursuit the same board some weeks too. tell me when you have the kicad files to this project.
Wagner
Hi Jean,
I was checking the schematics, and VCC(ping 20) and GND(ping 19) in the PIC18F2550 are not connected. Be carefull!

Hi, newby questions:
Fisrt, how can i take the "parts list", from this figures?
I've seen many figures and can't figure out thigs like:
1. How many resistors i'll need?
3. How many capacitos i'll need?
4. The specs of them?
Thanks , all
Hi Jean-Pierre,

Same for the Tiny model?
Look again at this photo:
Original Pinguino
C1 and C2 are on board (on same side as other "through hole" components), inside socket, under micocontroller. For Tiny is the same thing.
On the original Pinguino,
I noticed from the photos that the "PCB foil" and "implantation" are the same.
So, I believe that "PCB foil" should be deleted and put a mirror image of it.

Seria possivel fornecer o pcb para Eagle. Seria bom mudar o formato da placa para adaptar melhor ao protoboard ou encaixa-lo em outra placa.
version 1.1¿?¿?
Congratulations Vasco.
Anyone can provide this project with PIC18F2550 in Kicad or Eagle?
I wanted this project with the SMD resistors, can be in Eagle, kicad or another program.
Tanks
Hi guys,
Here you can find KiCAD archived files (take also the archive with KiCAD modules).
